On November 2nd Republicans took back the House on the national scene and in Wisconsin took the Assembly, Senate and the Governor's Office.
Charles Franklin, a UW-Madison political science professor said this..."With complete control you can't blame the other party if you can't fix the problems,"
What have we been hearing from Obama and the Democrats since he took office in 2009? "We can't get as much accomplished as we like because we are dealing with the Republicans, the "Party of no."
So, apparently you CAN blame the other party even when you have complete control...but only if you are a democrat. Sort of makes the Democratic symbol of the Donkey even more fitting for them.
I love politics and I follow the news closely. The majority of my blogs will be political in nature.

Do the right thing? Get punished. Are you kidding me?
Last week a patriotic middle schooler got smacked down by his school for flying an American flag on his bicycle. Here's the story...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEJzNpvoJAc
So, this kid likes to fly the American flag on his bike and an employee at his middle school made him take it off because some had complained and there were fears of racial tension. Of course this made the news, the clip ended up on YouTube and it went viral. This was the result.
http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_16604443?source=rss&nclick_check=1
Edward Parraz is the district Superintendent...
"It's one of those things that the campus supervisor was thinking in the best interest of Cody and it backfired on her," Parraz said Friday. "I think it was the right decision with the wrong result. She feels miserable."
The right decision? This idiot isn't qualified to be district Superintendent if he believes his employee made the "right decision." Why? This is the United States of AMERICA. If anyone wants to fly the American flag on our soil, they should be able to do so.
The madness just doesn't end. Earlier this year some students in another California school were sent home because they committed a horrific crime, that being they wore red, white and blue on Cinco De Mayo day.
http://dailycaller.com/2010/05/06/students-kicked-off-campus-for-wearing-us-colors-on-cinco-de-mayo/
I'm fed up with this, for lack of a better word, CRAP!
In both of these stories, the people that are offended are Mexicans. Well guess what, we're not in Mexico! This is AMERICA.
If you don't want to see the American flag on cinco de mayo day, go to Mexico to celebrate! In this case, if there were complaints and fear of possible violence against this boy for flying the American flag, don't make him take his flag down, pull the Mexican complainers aside and explain the facts of life to them.
This story had a happy ending in that the initial stupid decision was reversed. The problems is, it should have never happened in the first place. It shouldn't have taken thousands of emails and phone calls to tell this district Administrator that this was wrong.
There are many Mexicans that live here in America legally that would never suggest that flying the American flag is a problem. It's high time we tell the Mexicans that ARE offended at the sight of our flag to sit down, shut up, or get the you know what out of America!!
In conclusion, true Americans came out and supported Cody in the best possible way.

Democrats and the Bush tax cuts
It is hilarious watching the liberal talking heads freaking out about the possibility of extending the Bush tax cuts. Obama is hinting at compromise with Republicans which is not going over well with a lot of liberals in the Senate. I was watching Keith Olbermann on his show last night and it was remarkable how much liberal pundits are foaming at the mouth over this.
Their belief is we should extend the cuts for the middle class but extending the cuts for the rich is out of the question. They insist the rich are doing fine and that's the end of it. The problem is, that's not the end of it.
Former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich favors extending the cuts for the middle class, raising the taxes on the rich and distributing the estimated $70 billion in revenue to state and local municipalities to give to government employees and he is convinced they will spend it and the economy will be fine, whereas the rich will just sit on their money and not create jobs and do nothing to help the economy. Reich also went on to say Clinton raised taxes in the 90's and we came out okay.
Yes taxes were raised in the 90's but our economy wasn't in the condition it is now. We can't afford to gamble that it will pan out the same way as in the 90's.
Also, giving tax revenue to middle class government employees is a horrible idea and will not stimulate the economy. You don't give tax breaks to people whose entire paycheck comes from tax payers. They can't create jobs and the little bit of spending they will do won't help anything.
Liberals have a hatred for the rich that clouds their judgement when it comes to this. They would rather risk doing further damage to the economy (which we can't afford) than extend the cuts and let the private sector fix the economy. Should the cuts be permanent? No. I think they need to extend the cuts for at least a year and then see how the economy is doing.
Olbermann made a claim last night that job creation is inevitable and is coming and if the tax cuts are extended, Republicans will point to the tax cuts as the reason for the job creation and score political points. That's what it comes down to. Forget our economy and the risks of a further recession and possibly worse, risk our fragile economy on the CHANCE we will rebound so Obama looks better in 2012.
They just don't get it.

News, Cable and the war between the left and right.
Wow! The war between the cable news channels is escalating on an almost daily basis. The latest issue? Keith Olbermann from MSNBC was suspended without pay because he gave money to political campaigns. Do I think that's a big deal? No. He didn't go over the maximum amount and he has a right to support who he wants to support. However, the people at NBC have policies against that sort of thing and Olbermann violated the policy. Is that wrong? If it is, it's something the employees there need to take up with management.
Now why do I care? I just got done watching a 7 minute clip of fellow MSNBC host Rachel Maddow go on and on and on and on about how some of the people at Fox News gave money to certain campaigns and also endorsed people on the air. Fox News has no policy against it, which is their choice. But instead of taking on MSNBC management in a tactful way for Olbermann's suspension, Maddow does a laundry list of things going on at Fox.
This is a prime example of why Fox News Channel overwhelmingly leads in the cable news ratings. The best the people at MSNBC can do is cry and moan and complain. (Did you watch on election night? Perfect example)
In her rant, Maddow stated that Fox is a "political operation" while MSNBC is a "news operation." She's only partly right. Both networks are actually both news and political. MSNBC leans left and Fox leans right.
For many years, liberals had a lock on TV news. Rupert Murdoch, being the smart businessman that he is, saw an opportunity and ran with it, and it has paid off. Conservatives now have a TV voice through people like Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck among others. Liberals hate this.
For all the complaining that goes on about conservatives on the radio and cable news, the core issue is simply this. Liberals can't compete either locally or nation wide. Here in Wisconsin we have several popular conservative radio hosts just in Milwaukee. Charlie Sykes, Jeff Wagner and Mark Belling are the top three. Nationally there is Rush Limbaugh.
The left can't seem to produce voices from their side that can be successful like that and they are jealous. But they also don't realize what impression they themselves create.
Not too long ago, Bill O'Reilly appeared on The View on ABC. In explaining why there is such a disconnect between President Obama and the American people, Bill talked about the opposition to the proposed mosque near ground zero. He made the statement that Muslims killed us on 9/11. This threw the hosts of the view into a tizzy. Whoopie Goldberg and Joy Behar got up and walked off the set of their own show, making themselves look like three year old children throwing a temper tantrum. They could learn a thing or two from Barbara Walters. I don't agree with Ms. Walters politically, but she is a class act. She remained calm and professional even though she also disagreed.
That story sort of quieted down with the election but the last I saw, Whoopi and Joy were still defending themselves. Whoopi claims she "wasn't in the mood" to deal with it and Joy Behar still believes she did the right thing. Okay ladies but you looked like idiots.
The liberals in the media need to sit down and look at footage of themselves and compare it to footage of the conservative hosts. If they could see the difference and make improvements, they might actually gain some ground, but I'm not holding my breath. Liberals have a real hard time admitting when they're wrong.
In the meantime, I agree with one thing Rachel Maddow said. MSNBC needs to end this suspension and let Olbermann back on the air. Like Ms. Maddow, Olbermann being on the air only helps the conservative movement and drives more people to watch Fox News.

The time has come. This is history in the making.
Election day is upon us, and we have never had a more critical situation than what we have going into this election. The United States is broke. We have record deficits and a runaway debt that sits at $13,668,009,500,000 as I write this.
When George W Bush took the reigns in 2001, the debt stood at app 5.7 trillion. The national debt stood at just over 8.5 trillion when democrats took over the House in 2007, an increase of just under 3 trillion in 6 years. Since 2007 the debt has increased by nearly 5 trillion, 3 trillion of which has come under President Obama in under 2 years. Obama and the democrats have raised the national debt in under 2 years the same amount it increased in 6 years under GW Bush. At the current pace under Obama, if he were to be re-elected in 2012, by the time he leaves office in 2017, the debt will be at a staggering 22 trillion dollars! This has to stop!
Vice President Biden has stated we have to spend more money to keep from going bankrupt. I would like to think this opinion is not shared by a lot of liberals, but unfortunately it is.
Spending money on things we don't need is not a luxury we can afford right now. A good example is the rail system between Madison and Milwaukee. Wisconsin will receive $810 million in stimulus money from the federal government towards this project. Scott Walker, the Republican candidate for Governor has pledged to stop this from happening. Scott has also been leading in the polls over Democrat Tom Barrett, who supports the project. According to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel dated today "Just days before an election that could decide the fate of a planned high-speed rail line, state and federal administrators quietly signed a deal to commit the state to spending all $810 million of the federal stimulus cash allocated to the Milwaukee-to-Madison route, transportation officials confirmed Monday." http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/106488923.html
How convenient that just days before the election, Doyle and company rammed this through. This is a waste of tax payer money! Why don't I support it? First of all, nothing in life is free. Second, even though $810 million is coming from federal stimulus money, state tax payers will still be paying to run this choo-choo train. It will not pay for itself! Why? Because this is rural America. Rail has its place, like the elevated trains in Chicago and the subways in NYC. If I lived in NYC I would take the subway just to avoid traffic and the nightmare of trying to find a parking space. But in Wisconsin very few people will use it meaning we will still have to build and maintain our roads at the same rate we currently do. If it could be proven that we would save enough on building and maintaining roads to balance the cost of the rail system, I wouldn't care. But that will never happen. Doyle knows the majority of people in Wisconsin oppose this, but he rammed it through anyway. Why should he care what people think? After all, with his approval ratings, he couldn't get elected dog catcher right now.
This is the kind of mentality liberals have. The majority of Americans opposed Obamacare and the majority want it repealed. Do liberals care? No. Because they believe we are too stupid to know what's good for us so they need to push these things through for our own good. This is why we need change.
We also have a President that is pushing us ever closer to Socialism. How will he accomplish this? By destroying our current system of government.
Earlier this year, Obama said "I mean I do think at a certain point you've made enough money." Really? Take a look at some of the successful people in recent history that started with nothing but an idea. Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Michael Dell and Oprah Winfrey are all quick examples that come to mind. Who are we to tell these people "well screw you, your hard work and your talent. You've made enough." Excuse me?
Recently I had a very heated political debate with a very liberal friend. (We have since agreed to not discuss politics anymore for the sake of our friendship.)
This friend leans further to the left than Obama, or at least further left than Obama leads us to believe. This friend is all for communism and says we fear communism because we don't truly understand it. He told me true communism is what we see in the Star Trek series, particularly the Next Generation. In that series, people don't work for money, but instead everyone works to better themselves and humanity. That is the system he wants and tells me that us the system President Obama envisions. I believe he is correct in that is what our President wants. That is not a system of government that I want. That leads to what the Book of Revelation predicts, ie a one world government.
Conservatives generally stand for less government at the national level and giving more control to the local level. Conservatives know the way to jump start a sluggish economy is not to spend, spend spend, but rather to create incentives for people to start small businesses and give existing businesses room to expand and hire more people. More people working equals more people able to spend and that can help our economy.
At the state level, Scott Walker understands this and wants to get us to that point. His opponent, Democrat Tom Barrett, wants more spending and bigger government. Mr. Barrett has been mayor of Milwaukee since 2004 and Milwaukee is the 4th poorest city in the nation.
At the national level for one of our two Senators, we have Republican businessman Ron Johnson and self proclaimed "maverick" Russ Feingold. Ron understands the need to create jobs and let the private sector help get our economy going. Russ Feingold calls himself a maverick, but when it comes down to it he votes right along with Reid, Pelosi and company.
Feingold brags about hitting all 72 counties every year and listens to the people. I have heard too many times that Feingold hears the people but he doesn't listen. My own experiences with Feingolds staff tells me all I need to know. I recently had three separate conversations with Feingold staffers and all three lied. 18 years of Russ Feingold is enough.
In conclusion, this YouTube video is very fitting for the times we currently live in. It features Ronald Reagan from a speech he gave many years ago. It also gives clips of some of our more popular elected liberals and their beliefs. Watch this and remember this when you vote.
